A national spotlight shone on Cobbs Creek on Monday, September 8, as golfing legend Tiger Woods, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, numerous other dignitaries, and dozens of invited community leaders officially opened the Smilow | Woodland TGR Learning Lab to great fanfare. Our Learning Lab, the second of its kind after the model the TGR Foundation established in Anaheim over a decade ago, is already serving more than 7,500 Philadelphia students every year, grades 1-12, through STEAM curricula and college access and career readiness programs.
Ushering in an Era of Education and Opportunity

TGR Foundation operates the Smilow Woodland TGR Learning Lab on the Cobbs Creek campus, providing youth from the region access to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) education, college access and career readiness programs. Additionally, TGR Design is building a new short course to provide golf access and opportunities for the community to practice and learn the game.

A WORLD-CLASS PARTNER
“Our goal is to listen and understand — and to determine what the needs are. We want to be true partners with the community. That’s what this work is about.”
MEREDITH FOOTE, Executive Director, Smilow Woodland TGR Learning Lab
“I’m excited to work with the Cobbs Creek Foundation and the Philadelphia community on this special project that combines my passions: golf and supporting youth through education. Through the campus, we will provide meaningful education opportunities for local youth while expanding access to the game I love.”
