A Timeless Gem

ROOTED IN GREAT GOLF ARCHITECTURE

Cobbs Creek Golf Course and our land, with its creek and natural features, has inspired generations of great golf architects.

First it was Hugh Wilson and his colleagues from the Philadelphia School of Golf Architecture. Even as they were designing some of the top private courses, from Merion East to Winged Foot, they felt the moral obligation to design a course where everyone—all genders, all races, all ages—could enjoy the game. And Wilson designed Cobbs Creek without compensation.

Today, we are honored to call on the services of world-renowned golf course architect Gil Hanse and his design partner, Jim Wagner, who are leading our efforts. They have created a Master Plan for the historic restoration of Cobbs Creek in a way that honors and protects its important history even as meets this moment.

Hanse and Wagner have completed restorations of many Top 100 golf courses including Aronimick and those marvels from the Philadelphia School, Merion East and Winged Foot.

“Cobbs Creeks is Philadelphia’s golf course. And in this city, when we believe in something, we rally around it.”
