At Cobbs Creek, we’ve made it our mission to invest in the future of young people. In order to do so, we’ve partnered with The Impact Center, a non-profit created by life-long educators dedicated to igniting purpose in our youth. Together we are building the Education Center at Cobbs Creek, a state-of-the-art facility designed to bring resources to the children of the surrounding communities of Overbrook, West Philadelphia, and Upper Darby.
The Education Center will offer out-of-classroom hands-on learning, academic support, and enrichment activities, while also offering civic engagement, leadership and volunteer opportunities for local students. In addition, Cobbs Creek will serve as the home course for area golf teams.
The Cobbs Creek Education Team of Maria Stroup, Morgan Moore, and Lauren Kline will guide the formation of innovative programming designed to enhance academic achievement, career readiness, financial education, community cohesion and golf skills and values. Since the center was created with and for the surrounding neighborhood, the community is encouraged to fully engage with our education team as they go through the process of building programming which will inform the vision and offerings of the center.
Construction is expected to be completed by Spring 2024. Our team has already begun offering vital social and emotional programming to build trusted relationships and address the critical needs of our students in the meantime. The interim programming will offer help with conflict resolution, cultivating resilience, building self-esteem and positive racial identity, healing from trauma through meditation and mindfulness, tutoring, nutrition and well-being.
